Baked: Mini Chocolate Dipped Caramel Apples…
with Vanilla Swirls
Well, some Hollywood magic created by the incomparable Dame “Foodzilla” Melissa & editing prevented a beauty food shot or a glimpse of the guests enjoying my Mini Chocolate Dipped Caramel Apples with Vanilla Swirls. The recipe is up here on Food Network’s PCO90210 website Saul the birthday boy, his wife & their guests enjoyed them very much. I have had a lot of people contact me after seeing the recipe up on the website & seeing it mentioned in the episode I had to give them a shout out on the blog.
I looooooove these mini apples I found at the register in the Farmer’s Market one day & couldn’t wait to make a SIngle Serving dessert out of one. No worries, if you can’t find them just take a melon baller to a full sized Granny Smith apple & you will achieve the same affect. I made these for Saul because I sensed there was still this big kid in him (did you see his reaction when I used my heart shaped Le Creuset mini cocotte to mold his mielie pap… adorable). I swear a 35th birthday is the perfect day to celebrate the kid in you.
Originally I just wanted to dip in chocolate & use sprinkles but when I pulled out my chocolate box from the cupboards I noticed I had a few candy melts in different colors left. It was off to the craft store because I felt a colored drizzle would be sexy while sprinkles would just come across as child’s play. I used Wilton Candy Melts in Baby Blue, it’s a Vanilla flavored candy & I felt the color made it more masculine. I found matching ribbons at Michael’s with my favorite fleur de lis & couldn’t believe how perfect this was going to be for the party. These are so GOOD & so easy they may replace my cupcake obsession…. naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
